Commitment to protecting the environment
As a third-generation family business and leading international heating technology manufacturer, we are committed to fulfilling our social responsibilities as well as safeguarding the future of generations yet to come. Sustainability is an essential component of our company philosophy, and we continuously improve our processes to conserve resources and protect the environment.
For our technological innovations and exemplary commitment to environmental protection, Viessmann has received numerous awards, including the "European Business Award for the Environment" and recognition as "Beacon" of the Hessen Environmental Alliance. The German Energy Agency awarded us the "Energy Efficiency Award" for the central heat recovery plant created during our strategic sustainability project.
Highly efficient and environmentally responsible products
Sustainability is a top priority for us, particularly during product development. As early as the design stage, we ensure that raw materials are used in the production process in a way that protects natural resources. Our products are built for high thermal efficiency and a long service life. At the end of their service life, Viessmann products are professionally recycled and valuable raw materials are returned to the manufacturing and material cycle.
ENERGY STAR qualified products meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. Viessmann Vitodens boilers, Vitorond 100 boilers, and Vitocrossal 300 CU3A boilers are all ENERGY STAR qualified.
Well established environmental management
For decades, we have been putting into practice the concept of integrated environmental protection along the entire value chain. We make sure environmental protection is integrated into our processes and products, and give it top priority to help prevent ecological damage. Environmental management, which has been implemented for a number of years, organizes and monitors the application of our environmental policy.
We continually check whether goals derived from our environmental policy are being achieved. In Germany, all Viessmann sites and sales offices are certified to EN ISO 14001. In 1995, Viessmann with its sites in Allendorf was the first company in the heating technology sector and the second in Germany to be certified according to stringent European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme "EMAS".
Real-world results: leading by example
Viessmann has shown that the energy and climate policy targets set for 2050 can already be achieved today. Through the use of commercially available technology, energy efficiency at our headquarters has been significantly increased, as well as operational and material efficiency.
As a result, we are using 40% less fossil fuel and are reducing CO2 emissions by a third. Environmentally friendly biofuels already provide 77% of the heat demand at our Allendorf site, and our long-term goal is 100%. Sustainability is key, and we use only as much biomass as regrows within the same period.
