The Academy runs online seminars on a wide variety of topics on a regular basis which provide a simple, convenient way to learn more about our innovative products. These web-based training sessions are intended for contractors, distributors, engineers and sales representatives. 

The online seminars are free, typically one hour in length and include opportunities to ask questions. Pre-registration is required for seminars, after which all log-in information will be emailed to you.

Statement of Purpose:

This presentation will explore the combustion process and how it affects condensing boiler performance. The following focus topics will be discussed: The combustion process and how it varies with a change in the fuel, the role of excess air and how it affects boiler efficiency, how combustion is analyzed and what the readings mean, and the relationship between excess air and flue gas dew point. We will also discuss Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), how it is formed, why are concerned and how do we minimize it.

  • Describe the process of combustion to include the effects of using the various fuels: Natural Gas, Propane, Oil
  • Explain excess air as related to the combustion process, including its effect on sensible heat loss.
  • Describe the relationship between excess air, CO2 level, O2 level and Lambda.

This presentation will explore the theory behind gas fired condensing boilers. The following focus topics will be discussed: Heat make-up of natural gas combustion and how it relates to condensing boilers, natural gas - air mixture for the most efficient combustion, latent heat recovery as a product of combustion gas condensation, burner requirements including excess air control to increase boiler operation efficiency, and the relationship between return water temperature and condensing boiler efficiency. In addition, we will elaborate on condensing boiler’s heat exchanger materials and design requirements.
